The Pego Carnival is celebrated the weekend before Ash Wednesday. In 2025, the Pego Carnival will take place between February 21 and March 8.
History of the Carnivals in Pego
Between 1981 and 1982, the Libertarian Athenaeum of Pego held a workshop to make cardboard masks for Carnival, evoking the celebration that took place in our town before the war. These masks were paraded through the streets, entering bars and clubs, without anyone realising that the most participatory festival in the town and the most popular Carnival in the entire Valencian Community was beginning.
