The Relleu Footbridge: A dizzying walk between cliffs in the heart of the Costa Blanca

If you are looking for a different plan, we bring you the best option: the Relleu Footbridge Route. It is not the typical boring walk, this is pure spectacle: a wooden walkway hanging from a gorge, viewing points with glass floors and unforgettable views. The walkway consists of a path of wooden planks suspended from the wall of the gorge. Its route is approximately 850 meters long, round trip, starting from the wooden booth where you buy the tickets.

Do you dare to do it?

A walk with history and adrenaline

This route is not only about nature, it also has its historical aspect. It happens to pass by an old dam from the 17th century and gives us some brutal views of the Amadorio River canyon. The best thing is the wooden walkway, which is suspended about 60 metres above the river. Come on, if you have vertigo, it’s better not to look down. The walkway is located at the halfway point of the route and is only accessible on foot. The Relleu Reservoir Route is one of the best-preserved secrets of the town, a unique work nestled in an exceptional natural environment, of great beauty and ecological value. Part of the route runs along an old bridle path that has been rescued from oblivion: the Camí de les Ripalmes or del Fasamais. Along the route you can also see a lime kiln, old irrigation ponds, weirs and irrigation ditches.

What are we going to find?

There are 2 route options, depending on how brave we feel:

  • Option A (Circular Route): It is 10 km, with a gradient of 200 meters, and it takes about 3 hours. If you are looking for a walk, this is your option.
  • Option B (Linear Route): Lighter, only 3.6 km, with a gradient of 40 meters and it can be done in 1 hour. Perfect if you just want to see the walkway without much effort.

The path is well signposted and there are areas where we can stop to rest (or take epic photos for Insta). There are also remains of irrigation ditches, irrigation ponds and other curious things that remind us how they managed before.

The glass viewing platform: for the brave

The highlight of the route is the viewing platform with a glass platform. Here comes the ultimate test: if you dare to step on it and look down, you’re a real crack. From there, the view is out of this world, and the sensation of being in the air is amazing.
